”What separates GlobalTouch from other service providers – hosted, peer-to-peer like Skype, and those operators in the marketplace that aren’t CALEA compliant and can’t even offer 911 protections – is that we own our core technology. As such, complying with this order is much easier for us,” stated GlobalTouch Telecom CEO, Gregory O. Welch. “Professional VoIP services providers are required to comply with legitimate law enforcement requirements. We intend to provide the appropriate assistance to all law enforcement agencies, while continuing to address the privacy and security concerns of our partners and customers. Our utilization of the DeepSweep technology allows us to do this in a highly effective manner.” Originally enacted in 1994, the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) was created to help law enforcement agencies execute authorized digital communications surveillance warrants. The Act was recently extended to include the surveillance of Broadband Internet Access and VoIP services. Service providers can comply with CALEA in various ways; including purchasing complaint solutions from vendors that adhere to industry standards, such as T1.IAS. IP Fabrics’ DeepSweep for CALEA is the first self-contained network surveillance system that provides ISPs with both Broadband and VoIP CALEA compliance. Ideal for small and medium-sized ISP and VoIP networks, a single DeepSweep system functions as the complete CALEA compliance solution, providing the probe, mediation/delivery, and administration functions, which are commonly implemented as separate devices. “We are extremely pleased GlobalTouch has chosen DeepSweep for its CALEA compliance needs. The company has made a wise choice in selecting DeepSweep as it offers customers full CALEA compliance and Safe Harbor," said Kevin Graves, IP Fabrics CTO. |
