T.38 Fax

GlobalTouch Telecom is one of the few companies to offer native support for T.38 fax protocol. We built in this protocol for the simple reason that it provides much better reliability for fax transfer than the ‘clear-text-fax’ offered by most of our competitors.

We also offer software only “server side” T.38 Fax support. Previously unavailable in this configuration, the T.38 implementation enables GTT to offer its customers a 1.5x increase in fax transmission speed, and a higher level of transmission reliability (both in terms of distance and low network quality). The T.38 Fax protocol is specified by the International Telecoms Union (ITU) as real-time IP fax transport.

Server side implies the company’s own Fax In/Out software resides on the VoIP server where faxes are transmitted and received. Normally, service providers depend on third party libraries and/or equipment for T.38-capable fax termination and origination. GlobalTouch can now dispense with this, saving not only licensing costs but also having more direct control over the application. Native T.38 fax support greatly increases reliability of faxing long documents, the stock and trade of the SOHO and SMB.

Our strict adherence to standards allows our VoIP service to be very flexible and scalable, across the broadest possible array of equipment and devices. This is vital in the VoIP business, where success is all about services and applications, we have got to be able to offer our customers the latest and greatest or “killer apps” for our carrier and ASP customers ASAP. Whether a residential user that sends a few pages a month or a corporate client that sends a few hundred a day -- our product works!

“Besides being a plus for our users, offering a “real fax” bundled with our VoIP solution, brings all VoIP users one step closer to eschewing traditional voice service in favor of VoIP.”

--Cliff Rees, COO

“By deploying T.38 fax on a server, we are able to deliver faxes to any fax machine in the world. Also important to note, because we know it is a fax and not a voice call, we supersede least cost routing (LCR) with request for T.38 routing and we have production routes with T.38 support to all places on the planet.”
