Rethinking ‘Core’ Services
April 9, 2007
Wholesale is becoming a more strategic part of the carrier business, says Global Touch CEO Greg Welch. "We are getting more and more folks who want to outsource something that used to be thought of as ‘core’ functions," says Welch. "They need to deploy now, not build." Others are dual tracking and doing "build plus buy," of course. The point is that "you can get experiential if you use us, faster than building this capability in house and then going out and actually selling it."
"We are pushing hard at the MSO (cable operator) space this year," he adds. And tier two and three providers also want to sell VoIP and hosted services but don’t want to invest in their own infrastructure.
And, oh by the way, we would not be at all surprised to hear relatively soon that Global Touch is "under the hood" at Qwest. |
